Cash ethanol prices were discussed higher across the nation's regional trade hubs on Monday, with prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal in the Chicago market trading at $1.36, $1.365 and $1.3670 per gallon for a better than 2.0-cent gain and at the highest price since early December 2017.
Ethanol under Rule 11 terms for this week shipment traded at $1.345 and $1.3525 per gallon for a 2.75-cents gain. An early February delivered barge in the New York Harbor was assessed at $1.495 per gallon for a 3.5-cent gain. A trade source said the gains were mostly driven by short-covering by a major ethanol producer-trader in the Midwest.
