Spot Ethanol Prices Mixed as Traders Eye Physical Supply

Spot ethanol prices were mixed Tuesday, with cash prices in the Chicago market flat to higher. This was due to tightening supply conditions at the Argo terminal while markets in the East Coast, the Gulf Coast and along the West Coast eased on expectations a federal report for the week-ended Sept. 9 would show an increase in inventories.

Prompt ethanol supply at the Argo hub traded at $1.55 per gallon before being discussed flat at $1.5575 per gallon. Any September Argo deliveries traded at $1.54 and $1.55 per gallon, up 2 cents. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment traded at $1.55 and $1.555 per gallon, up 3.25 cents. September barges at the New York Harbor were seen at a $1.58 $1.60 per gallon bid/ask spread, down 1.0 cent.
