Spot Ethanol Prices Mixed in Thin End-of-Month Trade

May ethanol barge shipments in New York and Houston eased, while prompt transfer product at the Argo hub in the Chicago market moved a tad higher in choppy early trade.

The price fluctuations moved in line with regional supply dispositions, with a source pointing to Energy Information Administration data released midweek showing ethanol inventories at the New York Harbor remain high, Chicago area supplies have eased and Texas Gulf Coast stocks rose last week.

At the Argo supply hub, prompt product was valued at $1.53 per gallon, up 0.37 cents. Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 traded at $1.53 per gallon, down 1.5 cents. Along the East Coast, ethanol barges for May shipment to New York Harbor was talked at $1.61 per gallon, down a penny on the day.
