Spot ethanol prices eased in New York and Chicago early Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration's weekly ethanol inventory report showed domestic ethanol stocks rose to a four-week high of 19.0 million bbl, but the downside was curbed by data showing implied demand surged to a record high.

Prompt transfer ethanol at the Argo supply hub traded at $1.44 per gallon for a 0.5-cents loss and Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 for this week shipment traded at $1.44 per gallon. New York Harbor September delivered ethanol barges were pegged at $1.545 per gallon while October barges were valued at $1.1515 per gallon, each down 0.5 cents.
