Spot Ethanol Prices Mixed as Eyes Remain on Corn Futures
U.S. cash ethanol prices were mixed early Thursday, with cash prices in Chicago and California edging lower on the back of falling corn futures while New York Harbor and Southeast values climbed and remained unchanged at the Texas Gulf Coast.
N.Y. Harbor August delivered ethanol barges were pegged at $1.60 per gallon, for a 2.0 cents gain. Tampa, Florida, spot ethanol was offered at $1.70 per gallon for a 3.5-cents gain, while today transfer Argo ethanol was pegged at $1.51 per gallon for a 0.5-cents loss.
Wednesday's Energy Information Administration report showing a weekly stock draw and higher demand for ethanol hasn't had a discernible impact on cash ethanol trading, trade sources said.
