Spot Ethanol Rebounds on Higher Freight Costs, Market Oversold
U.S. spot ethanol prices rebounded Friday following a massive selloff the past two sessions after federal data showed domestic stocks rose to an 18-month high while demand eased. The rebound was driven by oversold market conditions and rising shipping costs for products. "I heard freight costs went up on Oct. 1," said a source. Another source said producers are having a hard time finding rail capacity to ship ethanol. Today Argo ethanol traded at $1.48 gallon, up 3.5cts, while New York Harbor October ethanol barge was valued $1.59 gallon, up 2.0cts.
