Spot Ethanol Boosted by Rising Demand, Midwest Supply Draw

Spot ethanol prices rose midweek after the Energy Information Administration reported a 100,000 barrel decline in Midwest supply to a 5.7 million bbl five-month low for the week-ended May 9. EIA also showed ethanol demand rose 44,000 barrels per day, or 5.2%, to 890,000 bpd last week, also up 44,000 bpd or 5.2% from a year ago. Today transfer ethanol at Argo is valued at $2.30 per gallon, up 3.0 cents, while May ethanol barge delivery in the New York Harbor traded at $2.2675 gal, up 2.0 cents. May delivered ethanol in California traded at $2.45 gallon, up 2.0 cents.
