Spot Ethanol Prices Stretch Losses ahead of 2014
Spot ethanol prices fell for the second straight day Tuesday before New Year's Eve on the prospect of an increase in domestic production, though trade volume was limited.
Spot ethanol values at the Argo hub near Chicago experienced one of the biggest drops, trading early afternoon at $2.10 and $2.09 per gallon, down 8.5 cents on the session.
Since Dec. 27, Argo physical spot prices have shed 6.9% of its value and are now at a two-week low. New York Harbor FOB barges for January transit were seen at about $2.34 per gallon, down 0.5 cents on the session, while prompt delivered ethanol in northern California was pegged at $2.40 per gallon, down 15 cents on the session.
