Argo, NYH Spot Ethanol Prices Buoyed by Tight Supply
Spot ethanol prices were flat to higher in early afternoon trade in Chicago and New York amid concern about low ethanol supply, though lower Chicago Mercantile Exchange corn futures limited the upside.
Federal data showed ethanol stocks dropped last week to a record low while demand rose, while corn values eased as harvesting continues in the Midwest, easing feedstock concerns.
Prompt transfer ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago was talked flat at a $2.04 to $2.06 per gallon bid/ask spread. New York Harbor barged ethanol was notionally penciled in a $2.28 to $2.30 bid/ask range, up 1.5 cents, while any-November ethanol barge traded at $1.90 gallon, up 4 cents on the day.
