Spot Ethanol Prices Gain on Tight Supply Squeeze
Spot ethanol prices continued higher Friday on lingering worries about short supply of the product. "This market remains tight, with inventory numbers we saw this week ... the big drawdown (in stocks) that everybody was expecting finally materialized, and I think it will continue until the new crops are harvested and we start building stocks again," said a trader.
Today transfer Argo ethanol traded at $2.52 per gallon, up 10 cents, while Oct. 3 transfer ethanol traded twice at $2.35 and $2.37 per gallon. October New York Harbor barged ethanol was offered without a bid at $2.55 per gallon, up 5 cents.
