Spot Ethanol Price Decline Limited by Supply Concerns

Spot ethanol prices were mostly lower, pressured by falling Chicago Mercantile Exchange corn futures in early Tuesday trade, though ethanol's downside was limited by expectations federal data will show a continued erosion in ethanol supply during the week-ended Aug. 16.

Limited supply of railcars to move the product has delayed deliveries to the Gulf and East Coasts. "Rail (prices are) extremely strong," said a trader. Prompt Argo ethanol traded flat at $2.34 per gallon, while ethanol in northern California traded at $2.55/gallon, down a penny.
