Trade sources said an acute ethanol supply shortage along the East Coast prompted bidders this week to boost spot ethanol prices, with two confirmed trades concluded early Tuesday for prompt delivered New York Harbor ethanol at $2.90 gallon for an 8 cents session gain.

The N.Y. Harbor market was more active in early trade than in recent weeks while trading at the Argo hub near Chicago was lackluster.

The Energy Information Administration reported last week ethanol supply along the East Coast fell to an all-time low during the week-ended April 26.
