DDG Prices Follow Corn Downward Amid Some Tight Supplies
Prices of dried distillers grains fell $2 per ton last week from the prio week, due largely to downward movement on the corn board. Despite some increased production as a few plants have come back online, continuing tight supplies in some areas may have kept those price decreases from falling even further.
The DTN DDG weekly spot price average fell to $265 per ton last week from $267 the week prior. This marks the eighth week that DDG prices have hovered between $265 and $271 per ton.

Of the 29 Midwestern locations DTN collects prices from, 16 locations reported that their prices decreased last week from the week prior between $3 and $10 per ton, although most price increases were around $5 per ton. Prices at 11 locations remained the same last week as the prior week, while only two locations increased their prices, both at $2 per ton.
Merchandisers told DTN that although some locations were unchanged, many dropped their prices slightly last week as corn prices fell. Good export demand was reported, though at least one merchandiser was sold out of product for March, as well as April.
The value of DDG relative to corn last week rose only slightly to 104.29%, from 103.91% the week prior. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal fell slightly, to 60.78% last week from 61.41% the prior week.
The cost per unit of protein of DDG was $10.60 last week, compared to the cost per unit of protein of soybeans at $9.18.
