Spot Ethanol Prices Climb as Physical Supply Tightens
Spot ethanol prices rose early Thursday amid talk of tightening available product supply along the East and West coasts.
A trade source said supply shortages have been reported mostly in the New York Harbor because imports have slowed to a trickle, with limited imports expected from Brazil during coming weeks.
Federal data released yesterday showed no imports were received in the U.S. last week. "There's a shortage of product in the East Coast," said the trader. "People are looking for product because they think there won't be any imports, while on the Gulf Coast there's a lot of product trying to get to Houston."
