Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Corn Gains Ahead of USDA Report
Spot ethanol prices rose across the board Thursday on the back of higher Chicago Board of Trade corn futures, gaining amid short covering in the grains market ahead of the USDA supply and demand report due out Friday that's expected to show tightening supplies.
Wednesday's federal data showing ethanol inventories were drawn down 1.8% while demand rose 8.2% last week also boosted spot ethanol prices, trade sources added.
