DTN's latest 360 Poll, where we ask readers to share their experience, asked the question: "What is the greatest challenge you face as you try to complete your harvest?" Respondents originated from four provinces -- the three Prairie Provinces as well as Ontario, which resulted in a wide range of issues facing them this fall.

As one might expect, weather was the number-one issue on people's minds answering this survey. A total of 29% of respondents reported that warmer weather was required for late or long-seasoned crops. By province, 72% of Ontario respondents picked this as their number-one choice while 34% of Manitoba respondents picked this as their top choice.

A further 28% of respondents indicated that the crop is ready to take off with help from an extended period of dry weather needed to advance harvest activity. Of the Saskatchewan respondents, 38% chose this as their top choice, followed by 33% of Manitoba respondents and 28% of Ontario respondents.

Besides weather, a wide range of issues were also chosen by producers as being their primary challenge this fall.

-- 10% of respondents suggested that picking up crop that has been flattened due to weather will be their major challenge, which was an issue noted by Alberta and Saskatchewan respondents.

-- 6% cited labor availability as the source of their greatest challenge

-- 3% faced the challenge of not having enough bin space

-- 15% responded to "other" challenges

As well, 9% of respondents suggested they have no challenges, it's full speed ahead!

DTN would like to thank those that responded to this and other polls. This week's poll deals with the expected completion date for this fall's harvest. Please feel free to share your thoughts on the 360 Poll, found on the lower right of your DTN Home Page. Also, fell free to drop us a line if you have time.
