A Window of Opportunity in the Midwest.

A significant planting window for crops in the Midwest is expected during the next 5 days as warmer, drier weather envelops most of the region. This will give some producers especially those north of I 80 a good opportunity to get some corn planting done. Producers should take full advantage of this as it appears another round of unsettled and cooler weather is in store for the Midwest during the latter half of next week

The northern plains will not be as fortunate as it appears cooler than normal weather will continue to dominate. It will be trending drier through the weekend. But it could be unsettled much of next week. Producers will have a much more limited opportunity to get out into the fields then they will in the Midwest.

The southern Plains is a whole other story. Drought conditions continue over much of the winter wheat belt with no end in sight. More stress is expected on the crop during the next 5 days as hot weather develops. Indications right now point to the lowest production in over a decade with further reductions expected due to current weather patterns.
