Spot Ethanol Prices Buoyed by Stock Draw, Higher Demand

Spot ethanol prices climbed in Chicago, the New York Harbor and Houston on Wednesday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said fuel ethanol stockpiles fell during the week-ended July 21 by 600,000 bbl, to 21.5 million bbl, while blending demand increased 24,000 bpd to 945,000 bpd.

Prompt ethanol at the Argo terminal in Chicago traded at $1.51 per gallon and offered last at $1.52 for a gain of 1.12 cents, while Rule 11 for this week shipment was up 1.5 cents at $1.505 per gallon.

July to early August fuel ethanol barges at the New York Harbor were pegged at $1.59 per gallon, up 1.0 cent, while prompt barges in Houston were valued 1.0 cent higher at $1.59 per gallon for a 1.0-cent gain. Northern California spot ethanol was offered at $1.77 per gallon for a 3.0-cent gain.
