Spot Ethanol Prices Pressured by Lower Corn, RBOB Futures

Spot ethanol prices declined during aftermarket window trade Tuesday, with cash values in California, New York Harbor and Chicago giving back early gains and trading 1.0 cent lower after Chicago Board of Trade corn futures and New York Mercantile Exchange RBOB futures both turned lower. Trade volume was thin, noted a source.

In physical trade, prompt delivered ethanol at Chicago's Argo terminal traded about 16 times from $1.4675 to $1.4725 per gallon, with a majority of the trades reported at $1.47 per gallon for a 1.0-cent loss.

February delivered ethanol by barge at the Harbor was pegged at $1.565 per gallon for a 1.0-cent loss on the day. Both Argo and Harbor prices are coming off 4 1/2-month highs. California spot prices were talked at $1.67 per gallon for a 1.0-cent loss.
