Spot Ethanol Values Pressured by Bearish Federal Data
Spot ethanol prices traded lower Wednesday after reports showed corn used for ethanol production was reduced this month, suggesting lower demand, while weekly ethanol production rose to a 5 1/2-month high.
"Ethanol is under pressure after the report that showed a big increase in production, although the corn stocks data was expected," said a trader.
Prompt ethanol at Argo traded at $1.50 per gallon, down 5.0 cents. New York Harbor June ethanol barges pegged at $1.59 per gallon, down 5.0 cents. Arizona spot ethanol traded at $1.70 per gallon and then at $1.68 gallon, down 3.0 cents, while Pacific Northwest traded at $1.64 per gallon, down 5.0 cents on the day.
