Spot ethanol traded slightly higher in a thinly-traded early session Thursday in Chicago. Prices continue to consolidate after midweek federal data showed ethanol stocks in the United States extended lower last week to a five-month low while production rose for the second straight week.

Prompt transfer ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago traded at $1.54 per gallon on a buyer's option basis, up 0.5 cents, while Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 traded at $1.55 per gallon for a 1.0-cent gain.
