Spot Argo, NYH Ethanol Prices Tumble on Weak Fundamentals

Key regional spot ethanol prices tumbled in thin trade Tuesday as weekly data due Wednesday is expected to show excess supply while demand is seen falling after the end of the summer peak driving period, traders said.

"The market in the Harbor is overloaded with product," said a trader.

"There's high volatility in prices because of reduced number of traders," added another trader.

Prompt Argo ethanol was talked at a $2.73 to $2.75 per gallon bid/ask, down 4.5 cents, while next week transfer Argo ethanol was offered at $2.65 gallon after a trade reported at $2.635 per gallon. September New York Harbor ethanol barge traded at $2.48 per gallon before pegged in a $2.48 to $2.52 per gallon bid/ask, down 16.5 cents on the day.
