USDA Worthing, SD Slaughter Cattle Auction

USDA Worthing, SD Slaughter Cattle Auction 04/16 12:35 AMS_2016 MARS Sioux Falls Regional Livestock Auction - Worthing, SD Sioux Falls Regional Livestock-Worthing,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 04/16/2025 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ SLAUGHTER SHEEP/LAMBS 3079 3542 1947 SLAUGHTER CATTLE 556 764 886 SLAUGHTER GOATS 240 300 304 FEEDER SHEEP/LAMBS 211 150 258 Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Very good demand for this lighter offering of steers and heifers, the market was much more active than last week. Market ready supplies are limited and packers had to compete heavily to get cattle bought. Another day of good gains in the CME Live Cattle contracts helped to support the market. 2 full loads, balance part loads and stock trailer loads. Cattle remain very attractive as they are clean for this time of the year and are very well finished. Slaughter lambs under 100 lbs 20.00 to 50.00 lower, instances to 60.00 lower, over 100 lbs 10.00 to 20.00 lower except 100-110 lbs steady. Slaughter ewes steady to 5.00 lower. Feeder lambs sold much lower in a narrow comparison. Another very large offering of slaughter lambs, the market was not as active and demand was light to moderate for the lighter weight lambs as there has been such a large amount of those lambs offered in the last few weeks. Demand was a little better for the traditional weight lambs but still there was a lot of pressure on the market. 2 full loads of 155 lbs lambs offered. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLAUGHTER SHEEP/LAMBS --------------------------------------------------------------- BUCKS - DTN Aghost Early Word Livestock

There is no ceiling on cash as packers aggressively purchase cattle. They were short-bought and may remain that way as they may buy only what they need. Hog futures were mixed at the close Thursday as traders seemed uncertain of which way the market would move in the near term.
