Best comparison of heifers were those 950-1000 lbs 10.00 higher. Very good demand for this nice, summertime offering of yearling steers and heifers. Several long strings of very attractive, high quality yearlings offered in full loads and multiple load lots. Flesh conditions were attractive overall, light to moderate plus, few in heavy flesh. Feeder Cattle futures were off hard during most of the sale but it did not affect the market at the auction. Cattle feeders continue to feel very bullish as last week's cash fed cattle market traded up to 242.00. TREND: The trend for September corn is down.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-short futures position of 107,968 contracts as of Aug. 5, a decrease of 25,499 contracts as speculators took profits on short positions built up through the summer thus far.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 147,872 contracts as of Aug. 5, a decrease of 16,025 contracts, week-over-week. The September 2025 contract is priced 22 3/4 cents lower than the December 2025 contract, a spread that widened again through the most recent week, indicating a comfortable level of old-crop supplies. DTN's National Cash Index indicated that corn basis faded 2 cents over the most recent week to 17...

Cattle futures spent about as much time in the negative as they did in the positive Wednesday, closing mixed. That hesitancy may continue Thursday until cash is confirmed. Hogs were under pressure from the sharp losses in cutouts on Tuesday and packers showed less interest Wednesday.
