Compared to last week:  best test on steers 750 to 799 lbs and 850 to 899 lbs 
4.00 to 5.00 lower with instances up to 10.00 lower on 750 to 799 lbs, 800 to 
849 lbs and 900 to 949 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 higher with instances up to 13.00 
higher on 800 to 849 lbs.  Heifers 600 to 699 lbs 8.00 to 10.00 lower, 700 to 
749 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher.  A very large offering of home raised and 
backgrounded cattle this week including quite a few home raised replacement 
quality heifers.  Very good demand for light fleshed backgrounding or grass 
type cattle and replacement heifers, good to very good demand for finishing 
type cattle depending on flesh condition.   Many strings, loads and packages of 
attractive cattle available in varied flesh condition, from light to heavy.  An 
active market with mostly order buyers in the seats with a few farmers 
interested in replacements.  Many producers are in the thick of calving.  Warm 
temps  this week have dried out pen and yard conditions.  Next feeder cattle 
sale is Wednesday, April 1.

TREND: The trend for May corn is revised to higher for now.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial corn traders held a net-long futures position of 375,360 contracts as of March 24, and were net-buyers of 63,018 contracts during the CFTC reporting period as prices rallied on bullish influence from energy markets due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-short position of 314,222 contracts as of March 24, and were net-sellers of 58,599 contracts through the CFTC reporting period. The May 2026 contract is priced 11 3/4 cents lower than the July 2026 contract, widening (more carry) through the week, and still among the highest degree of carry between the two contracts...

Livestock futures started the Thursday session with very limited interest, allowing prices to hold limited gains in cattle futures through early hours of trade, but softness developed in feeder cattle and lean hog trade during late morning trade.
