DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Lower on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 22 was down $1 on average at $140 per ton versus one week ago. DDG prices overall were mixed and but prices were slightly under pressure once again. As plant production rises, that adds more DDG and with slower demand, it can affect prices. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 5 cents versus one week ago.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.098 million bpd in the week ended Aug. 16, up 26,000 bpd week-on-week and 50,000 bpd, or 4.6% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.087 million bpd was 35,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.038 million bpd, up 24,000 bpd week-on-week and 46,000 bpd, or 4.4% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.026 million bpd was 33,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 22 was 1.06%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 45.69 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.19 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.45.
U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed as of Aug. 21, September CIF NOLA barge price was at $166 per metric ton, down $9 versus one week ago and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $175, down $10; rail delivered PNW was down $9 at $209, and rail delivered to California was steady at $220 per metric ton.
