DTN Weekly DDG Price Lower on Average Again

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended June 20 was down $1 on average versus one week ago at $159 per ton. Extreme heat has slowed demand and the losses in corn since last week added pressure to the market. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 18 cents versus one week ago.

The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday reported for the week ended June 14, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.057 million barrels per day (bpd), up 34,000 bpd week-on-week and 5,000 bpd, or 0.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.055 million bpd was 28,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 998,000 bpd, up 31,000 bpd week-on-week and 8,000 bpd, or 0.8%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 996,000 bpd was 26,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended June 20 was 1.01%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 44.46 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.89 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.53.

U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed June 12 CIF NOLA barge price was at $195 per metric ton, up $3 from last week and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $199, up $4 from last week. Rail delivered PNW was up 5 cents at $232 and rail delivered to California was down 2 cents at $229 per metric ton.
