DTN Weekly DDG Price Lower on Average

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 3 was $199 per ton, down $4 on average from one week ago. DDG prices came under pressure as corn futures fell and pushed cash corn prices lower. The DTN National Corn Index is down 54 cents from one week ago.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) at midweek reported for the week ended July 28, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.067 million barrels per day (bpd) through July 28, down 27,000 bpd week-on-week while 24,000 bpd, or 2.2% higher than the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.066 million bpd was 40,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.005 million bpd, down 15,000 bpd week-on-week and 21,000 bpd, or 2.1% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.001 million bpd was 35,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 3 was 1.16%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 44.10 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $7.37 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $9.50.
