In this Equipment Roundup, DTN/Progressive Farmer looks at Case IH and New Holland winning four ASABE AE50 awards and John Deere's addition of eight companies to its 2023 Startup Collaborator program, the release of its Operations Center PRO, new connectivity with Nutrien's Digital Hub and a new baler.
CASE IH, NEW HOLLAND WIN AE50 AWARDS
Case IH and New Holland, global ag brands of CNH Industrial, have won four 2023 ASABE AE50 awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). The awards include:
-- Case IH Early Riser 2150S Front-Fold Split-Row Planter. The Early Riser 2150S features a 50-inch split-row offset (front to back) design which maximizes residue flow and minimizes residue plugging -- for more efficient and agronomic operation. All settings can be made directly from the cab.
-- Steiger Series Tractor Three-Point Hitch. The hitch is designed to maximize the power and lift capacity of wide-frame Steiger series tractors. The system now has a 20,000-pound lift capacity and increased maximum lift height.
-- New Holland 2023 Guardian Front Boom Sprayer with PLM Intelligence. The sprayer features all-new electronic controls and offboard connectivity. Upgrades include liquid management system controls in the cab and fill station, and a full integration to the Precision Land Management (PLM) intelligence infrastructure offered by New Holland PLM connect systems and Raven Slingshot offboard interfaces.
-- New Holland Pro-Belt Series Variable Chamber Round Baler. The balers are equipped with the ActiveDrop rotor drop floor which provides an alert to the operator when the load on the rotor is approaching maximum capacity. This allows the operator to adjust their baling speed to avoid rotor overloading and increases overall productivity.
ASABE's AE50 awards honor innovation in product development for agricultural, food, and biological systems.
DEERE ADDS EIGHT COLLABORATORS TO STARTUP PROGRAM
Deere & Company has chosen eight companies for its 2023 Startup Collaborator program. The Startup Collaborator was launched in 2019 and helps John Deere enhance precision technology in its agriculture and construction equipment.
The eight 2023 Startup Collaborators include:
-- Albedo. A startup company developing low-flying satellites that will collect visible and thermal imagery at ultra-high resolution.
-- ANELLO Photonics. A company that is disrupting the navigation industry with their Silicon Photonics Optical Gyroscope, a low-noise and low-drift optical gyroscope smart sensor for autonomous applications.
-- GrAI Matter Labs. A business of Life-Ready AI -- artificial intelligence that feels alive, delivering brain-inspired chips that behave like humans do and makes devices assisting humans act, and react, in real time.
-- Impossible Sensing. This is an aerospace company developing and applying space technology to the agriculture industry to help the world become carbon neutral.
-- IntelliCulture. A company providing farm equipment management software that helps drive sustainable farming practices through actionable insights, efficiency improvements and risk mitigation.
-- Precision AI. A startup that's creating the world's first artificial intelligence-powered agricultural drones for plant-level herbicide applications at broad-acre scale.
-- RodRadar. Its Live Dig Radar technology provides real-time, on-site, automatic alerts to prevent damage to underground utility infrastructure during excavation.
-- Vega. This is the window that certifies agribusiness sustainability to the world. Supporting sustainable production, Vega impacts the entire agri-food chain through traceability, risk analysis and monitoring of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
DEERE RELEASES OPERATIONS CENTER PRO
John Deere has released Operations Center PRO, an all-new level of the John Deere Operations Center built specifically for ag service providers requiring specialized fleet and logistics management capabilities.
Operations Center PRO Dispatch is the first specialized tool within Operations Center PRO. It integrates features from AgLogic, John Deere's previous dispatching solution, into the Operations Center suite of fleet and data management tools. Operators receive and manage work orders from the PRO dispatch system on a mobile app that works for all equipment brands, providing a complete fleet solution for ag retailers.
Operations Center PRO helps ag retailers efficiently manage equipment fleets and agronomic data on the same platform many of their farmer-customers currently use.
The core John Deere Operations Center will remain free of charge to farmers and ranchers.
NUTRIENT AG, DEERE RELEASE ADVANCED CONNECTIVITY
Nutrien Ag Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of Nutrien Ltd., and John Deere jointly announced the release of advanced digital connectivity between the John Deere Operations Center and Nutrien Ag Solutions' Digital Hub. This connectivity enables both companies to better serve growers by optimizing logistics and enabling variable rate agronomic recommendations to be seamlessly transferred to their equipment for execution.
DEERE ADDS HIGH DENSITY BALER
Deere & Company has added to its lineup of balers the new L341R High-Density Large Square Baler. The new baler creates up to 1,200 pound, 3x4 high-density bales. Previously, the same-sized bale weighed up to 925 pounds.
High-density balers are commonly used in crops having more elastic characteristics, such as straw. The L341R, features increased plunger force, tension panel pressure, and an 18-inch longer bale chamber than previous models to provide the extra pressure to the bales and increased efficiency. Across a 160-acre field, with straw yielding 2-tons per acre, a farmer could get by with four fewer trailers to transport the bales, Deere says.
