John Deere has introduced its all-new, crossover vehicle, the four-seat Gator XUV 825i S4.

"Customers wanted our heavy-duty XUV in a multi-passenger form that was comfortable and customizable," said David Gigandet, marketing manager. The result is a Gator for four passengers.

To allow for either extra passengers or needed cargo space, the XUV 825i S4 has a convertible rear seat and cargo space. Two additional passengers can be transported in the rear seat area. But when more hauling space is needed, the rear seat folds down to create a flat platform with tie-down points for an additional 400 pounds of cargo.

The XUV 825i S4 is powered by Deere's 50 hp, 812 cc, inline 3-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection. Fuel capacity is seven gallons. This Gator has a top-speed of 44 mph and a fully locking four-wheel drive system. The Gator's fully independent, double wishbone suspension provides 8 inches of wheel travel and up to 11 inches of ground clearance. Power steering, with an anti-kickback feature comes standard. The XUV 825i also comes standard with dynamic downhill engine breaking.

The new Heavy-Duty S4 is also available with diesel power. The XUV 855D S4 (http://www.deere.com/…?) is powered by a 23 hp, liquid cooled 3-cylinder diesel engine.

The cargo box is rated for 1,000 pounds -- and it can be converted to a flat-bed configuration. This Gator has front and rear, 2-inch hitch receivers and can tow 1,500 pounds.

All Gator XUVs are available in Realtree Hardwoods HD Camo, olive and black, or in John Deere green and yellow color schemes.

The Pioneer incorporates a convertible-seating configuration that switches between two-, three- or four-person seating. But this side-by-side is sized like a two-seater. The two rear seats fold making the tilt-bed space fully available.

The Pioneer is powered by Honda's electronic fuel-injected 700cc-class liquid-cooled OHV single-cylinder four-stroke engine. It features an automotive-style automatic transmission with hydraulic torque converter, with three forward gears and reverse.

Long-travel suspension -- with 7.9 inches of travel in front and 9.1 inches in the rear -- combines a comfortable ride with high-performance handling. The Pioneer can carry 1,000 pounds in the cargo box and tow up to 1,500 pounds. The Pioneer has 10.5 inches of ground clearance.

It will be available in three colors -- Red, Green, and the new Honda-designed and trademarked Honda Phantom Camo. A line of more than 50 accessories will be available soon.

The Pioneer will be available this summer.

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. has unveiled its redesigned 2014 Tundra full-size pickup truck. This Tundra represents the first major change in the truck since the launch of its current generation model in 2007.

"Tundra's new exterior design and all-new interior were inspired by customer feedback requesting a more chiseled exterior and refined interior with improved driver ergonomics, and easy-to-use technology," says Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division.

The 2014 Tundra will be available in several variations: SR, SR5, Limited, and in two premium grades, the Platinum and the all-new "1794 Edition." The new 1794 Edition is a tribute to the ranch, founded in 1794, on which the Tundra plant is located in San Antonio. Tundra has three cab styles -- a two-door Regular Cab, four-door Double Cab and four-door CrewMax. All the vehicles are available with 4x2 and 4x4 drives.

Tundra offers three power trains. A 4.0-liter dual overhead cam (DOHC) V6 is standard on Tundra Regular and Double Cab models. It generates 270 horsepower and is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. The 4.6-liter DOHC i-Force V8 is rated at 310 horsepower. The 5.7-liter DOHC i-Force V8 produces 381 horsepower. Both V8's come standard with a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. Engines are available in both gasoline and "Flex Fuel" variants.

Deliveries begin in September.

John Deere has announced a new line of E-Series skid steer loaders and compact track loaders (CTLs), each with Interim Tier Four or Final Tier Four engines.

The large-frame skid steers and CTLs feature a flat floor design with 25 percent more foot room than previous models. All the models include low-effort electro-hydraulic (EH) controls for ease of operation.

New standard features include connect-under-pressure auxiliary hydraulic couplers, and a new lighting feature that can be preset for up to 90 seconds before shutting down after the operator exits the machine.

The E-Series preserves several popular features found on Deere's D-series machinery. These include a pressurized cab with high visibility, auto-idle to conserve fuel and easy access service points.

The E-Series line includes nine models. In the skid steers, there are three large-frame models (326E, 328E, 332E) and two mid-frame models (318E, 320E). The CTLs include two large-frame models (329E, 333E) and two mid-frame models (319E, 323E).

The skid steers and CTLs are powered by Yanmar 3.3 or 3.1 liter diesel engines. The large-frame model engines provide up to 10% more horsepower than the previous D-Series models. All models will be compatible with more than 100 available Worksite Pro attachments.

Well...no one else is likely going to go out on a limb and say it, but for all the Ag-related things the Gator XUV 825i S4 does, ti's capabilities to be modified, it's speed and fuel efficiency ALSO make it the "Preppers" vehicle of choice. This could well be the "jeep" of the 21st Century. It WILL go nearly everywhere and can be modified to more things than any other vehicle of it's kind. Add to that, it's a Deere, and THAT'S what I'm talking about. With Equipment Depreciation as incentive, you definitely gotta have one!
