Spot Ethanol Prices Climb on Bullish EIA Supply Data

U.S. spot ethanol prices rose in early trade Wednesday on Energy Information Administration data showing fuel ethanol inventories declined 400,000 bbl to 20.2 million bbl during the week-ended Sept. 30 while plant production fell 9,000 bpd to 980,000 bpd, and net refiner and blender inputs rose 12,000 bpd to 919,000 bpd during the final week of September.

Prompt ethanol supply at Argo in the Chicago cash market was seen at $1.59 per gallon for a 1.0-cent gain. In rail market, Chicago ethanol supply traded under Rule 11 for immediate shipment changed hands at $1.565 per gallon, up 0.5 cent. October ethanol barges at the New York Harbor was talked in a $1.665 to $1.685 per gallon bid/ask range, up 0.5 cent, with prompt supply of ethanol in California talked at $1.69 to $1.72 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 1.5 cents.
