Supply Shortages Spur Ethanol Spot Prices Higher

Spot ethanol prices extended higher for the sixth straight session Friday on talk of supply shortages in key trade hubs ahead of the weekend break. Recent data also showed a tightening supply-demand balance.

Prompt ethanol at Argo was talked at a $1.56 to $1.58 per gallon bid/ask, up 1.5 cents. New York Harbor October barges traded 2.5 cents higher at $1.71 per gallon. Prompt northern California was pegged at $1.73 per gallon, up 0.5 cents. Spot Arizona ethanol traded $1.72 per gallon, up 1.5 cents.
