Spot Ethanol Prices Gain on Expectation for Stock Draw
Spot ethanol prices edged higher along the West Coast and in Chicago while flat in the New York Harbor amid expectation ethanol supplies were drawn down for the week-ended Feb. 28 when federal supply data is released Wednesday.
Traders reported strong demand as deliveries surged after railcar turnover improved. Friday delivered ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago was valued at $2.26 per gallon, up a penny, while New York Harbor March delivered ethanol barge was talked unchanged at a $3.10 to $3.15 per gallon bid/ask spread. Northern California prompt ethanol prices were seen at a $3.25 to $3.30 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 5.5 cents.
