A cooling followed by warmer, drier pattern is also scheduled for the Dakotas. The Delta will get some moisture over the weekend, then turn drier again. The southern coasts have a better chance of significant rain. South America stays dry, with much of Brazil extremely dry to start off the planting season, with northern regions staying driest. Bonus DTN content: In 2025, farmers in more than 20 states will have fewer brands from which to choose, DTN Crops Editor Jason Jenkins reported in the September issue of Progressive Farmer magazine. In the latest Field Posts podcast, hosted by Sarah Mock, Jenkins takes a closer look at the consolidation trend in the seed industry after Bayer's announcement that several brands, including Fontanelle, Gold Country, Kruger, Lewis Hybrids and Stone Seed, will be eliminated from its seed portfolio. What is the motivation behind these retirements for the big companies? Will that limit selections for next year? How are independent seed companies continuing to fit into a global seed market that seems to have less and less space for specialized players.
