Senate and House Ag Committee Hearings This Week Touch on Western Water Crisis and Crop Insurance
Two Senate Agriculture subcommittees have scheduled hearings this week:
On Tuesday at 9 a.m. Central, the Conservation, Climate Forestry and Natural Resources Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled, "The Western Water Crisis: Confronting Persistent Drought and Building Resilience on Our Forests and Farmland."
Witnesses will be Andy Mueller, general manager of the Colorado Water Conservation District; Courtney Schultz, Colorado State University; Ellen Herbert, senior scientist with Ducks Unlimited; Tom Willis, owner/manager of the Kansas State University Water Farm; and Earl Lewis, chief engineer, Western States Water Council.
On Thursday, at 10 a.m. Central, the Commodities, Risk Management and Trade Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled, "Agricultural Trade: Priorities and Issues Facing America's Farmers." A witness list has not yet been published.
The hearings will be livestreamed on the Senate Agriculture Committee website.

House Ag Subcommittees to Hold Farm Bill Hearings

Two House Agriculture subcommittees will hold hearings this week on titles of the 2023 farm bill.
On Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. Central, the Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program titled "A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Stakeholder Perspectives on SNAP."
On Thursday at 8 a.m. Central, the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled "A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Economic Perspectives on Title I Commodities and Title XI Crop Insurance."
The hearings will be livestream on the House Agriculture Committee website.
