DTN Weekly DDG Price Higher on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 13 was $159 per short ton on average, up $4 versus one week ago. DDG is still a better value than soybean meal and higher cash corn.
DDG prices were higher, on average, and the cash corn price was higher versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was up 10 cents per bushel (basis SEP), while soybean meal prices were down $2.60 per short ton (basis DEC) versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 13 was 0.943%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 50.64%, and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.89 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.61.
U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these September prices as of Aug. 13: CIF NOLA barge price was up $5 at $230 metric ton (mt) versus one week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was steady at $243 mt; rail delivered PNW was up $32 at $279; and rail delivered to California was up $23 at $268 mt.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday, Aug. 12, that overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.117 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ending Aug. 7, up 10,000 bpd week-on-week and 24,000 bpd, or 2.2%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.127 million bpd was 23,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.06 million bpd, up 13,000 bpd week-on-week and 28,000 bpd, or 2.7% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.07 million bpd was 24,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
