OMAHA (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 34 locations reporting for the week ended June 2 was $250 per ton, down $9 on average versus one week ago. Once again, a rise in plant production last week and losses in the cash corn market pressured DDG prices. The DTN National Corn Index was 29 cents lower on June 2 versus one week ago.

The Energy Information Administration report Wednesday showed nationally ethanol plant production increased 47,000 barrels per day (bpd) or 4.6% to 1.071 million bpd -- 37,000 bpd or 3.6% above the year-ago output rate.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended June 2 was 95.86%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 60.25%, and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $9.26, compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $8.73.

In its weekly DDGS export update, the U.S. Grains Council said: "On the export market, brokers and exporters report that Barge CIF NOLA values are down $10 metric ton (mt) for June and down $12/mt for July and August while FOB Gulf offers are down $13/mt. Container offers are down $16-20/mt this week due to lower internal prices and a modest break in ocean freight rates. The average offer for 40-foot containers to Southeast Asia is $409/mt for June-August shipment."
