Spot Ethanol Prices Trade Higher on Short-covering

Spot ethanol prices traded higher Friday in Chicago, the New York Harbor and in California, with a flurry of deals done this afternoon amid short-covering ahead of the weekend break. The gains were also boosted by higher Chicago Board of Trade corn futures.

Twelve deals were reportedly done during the aftermarket window in Chicago at cash prices ranging from $1.57 to $1.585 per gallon, 1.25 cents higher on the day, while Harbor prompt supply ethanol was talked at a $1.63 to $1.67 per gallon bid/ask, up 0.75 cents. Prompt delivered ethanol with 75 carbon intensity traded in California at $1.67 per gallon, up 3.0 cents on the day.
