Chicago, NYH Spot Ethanol Prices Retreat on Profit-taking
Spot ethanol prices retreated in light volume trade Friday amid profit taking after rallying a day earlier on bullish federal data showing lower supply and higher demand.
Prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal in the Chicago market traded at $1.63 and $1.64 per gallon for a loss of 4.0 cents on the day.
In the rail market, this week delivered ethanol traded under Rule 11 was offered at $1.65 per gallon, down 0.5 cent on the day. On the East Coast, January ethanol barges in the New York Harbor was discussed at a $1.74 to $1.77 per gallon bid/ask spread for a loss of 1.5 cents on the day.
