Spot Ethanol Prices Gain in New York, Slide in Chicago
Chicago area cash ethanol traded lower while New York Harbor ethanol spot prices flipped to the upside from a day prior and narrowed its discount against Argo to a penny in early trade Tuesday.
Trade sources said Harbor prices were boosted by a supply shortage due to delay in deliveries from Midwest plants. Trucking availability was limited.
"We are finding it harder and harder to get trucks to move ethanol cargoes," said one trader. Prompt delivered ethanol at Argo traded early at $1.81 per gallon, down 3.0 cents on the day. December barges at the New York Harbor traded at $1.83 early morning before talked in a wide range of $1.76 to $1.84 per gallon for a 5.0-cent gain.
