Spot ethanol prices traded sharply lower Tuesday afternoon in Chicago and New York Harbor cash markets amid a selloff across commodity markets today that also pressed corn and gasoline futures lower.

Fuel ethanol for prompt delivery at the Argo terminal in the Chicago market traded at $1.64 and $1.625 per gallon, down 4.38 cents on the day. On the East Coast, prompt ethanol barges at the New York Harbor changed hands at $1.725 per gallon and were subsequently pegged at $1.71 per gallon for a loss of 3.0 cents on the session.
