U.S. Spot Ethanol Prices Flat to Up in Thin Early Trade

Spot ethanol prices were flat in Chicago while nudging higher in New York and other regional trade hubs in a dull follow-through trade session early Thursday. This was after the Energy Information Administration said the prior day that ethanol inventories fell 400,000 bbl to a 15-month low of 19.0 million bbl during the week-ended Oct. 14, despite plant production climbing 37,000 bpd to 998,000 bpd last week.

Prompt ethanol supply at the Argo hub in Chicago market traded unchanged at $1.64 per gallon, while October ethanol barges at the New York Harbor were pegged at $1.685 per gallon, up 0.25 cents. November Harbor barges traded 9.0 cents over November Chicago swaps contracts or $1.67 per gallon, up 0.5 cents.
