Canada Markets

For a few weeks, we've been noting slowing activity at Canada's west coast terminals, given the weekly vessel lineup which has been well below the one-year average for the past several weeks as reported in Quorum Corporation's Weekly Performance Update.

Total weekly exports of all grains from licensed terminals was reported at 446,400 metric tons in week 46, or the week ending June 19. As seen on the attached chart, weekly shipments shown by the blue bars are well below the previous four-week average for the fourth time in the past five weeks. The volume moved was the lowest weekly volume shipped in the weekly data provided this crop year, although the week 21 and week 22 data are combined.

Week 46 exports of 446,500 mt compares to the same-week volume in 2014/15 at 535,300 mt and the five-year average at 544,960 mt.
