DEERE UPDATES 7R, 8R TRACTOR LINE

John Deere has produced several updates for its model year 2021 7R and 8R tractors.

New to the 7R Series is the 7R 350, with 350 rated engine horsepower -- a 20 horsepower increase over the current 7R tractor. The new model year 7R comes standard with Triple Link Suspension and Infinitely Variable Transmission. It can be ordered with CommandPRO controls.

A key enhancement for 7R tractors used for hay and forage work is the addition of LSB Ride Control. The inertia generated by the baler and transmitted to the tractor can result in poor ride quality for the operator. This option gives farmers the ability to take advantage of the lighter 7R tractor using LSB Ride Control to better manage operator comfort and reduce soil compaction and crop damage. LSB Ride Control compensates for the rocking motion of the baler plunger.

LSB Ride Control is available as a factory-installed option for MY21 on 7R tractors and is compatible with John Deere L331 or L341 large square balers.

Starting with model year 2021, John Deere makes ActiveCommand Steering 2 (ACS 2) available as a factory-installed option on 7R and 8R tractors. ACS 2 reduces steering effort for the operator in the field and improves line holding during transport.

For MY21, Deere will offer low-sidewall tires as optional equipment on its three largest 8R tractors, the 8R 340, 8R 370 and 8R 410. 8R tractors require Independent Link Suspension to be equipped with these tires. The combination offers improved ride quality with all the benefits of a single tire and a large footprint, Deere said.

These MY21 7R and 8R tractors can be ordered now with deliveries starting in November.

SURESPEED COMES TO MARKET

Ag Leader's high-speed, high-accuracy planting system, SureSpeed, is now available through its dealer network for delivery in November.

The SureSpeed planting system combines seeding accuracy with planting speed -- from 3-12 mph. Ag Leader explained that unique meter orientation on the row unit allows seed to move smoothly between the meter and delivery system, resulting in accurate seed placement at any speed.

This meter also is designed to handle a variety of seed shapes and sizes without singulator adjustments.

MANUFACTURING LEGISLATION SEEKS TO IMPROVE U.S. COMPETITIVENESS

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has announced support for the National Institute of Manufacturing Act. The legislation is written to strengthen the manufacturing sector and ensure the future competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing. The bill was introduced by U.S. Sen. Gary Peters. D-Mich.

Equipment manufacturers represent 12% of the entire U.S. manufacturing sector and support 2.8 million jobs.

This legislation will reduce redundancies and improve efficiencies across existing federal manufacturing programs and ensure that the federal government is better positioned to respond to rapid changes in the global manufacturing landscape.
