Spot Ethanol Prices Advance Amid Improved Demand

Spot ethanol prices traded higher Thursday in the New York Harbor and in Chicago area markets amid increased buying interest by domestic blenders and export demand. Blenders in the United States are filling their storage tanks ahead of the spring plant maintenance, said a trader.

In early trade Thursday, prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo terminal in the Chicago cash market traded at $1.525 gallon, up 1.75 cents. In the rail market, ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment changed hands at $1.51 gallon, up 3.0 cents. March barged ethanol at the New York Harbor was pegged at $1.60 gallon, up 2.0 cents.
