Long-time DTN followers have probably noticed the ever-expanding coverage of livestock subjects, specifically cattle, in our content. Cattle markets and beef production issues are some of our highest-read subject areas, with more readers finding that content every week.

That interest is one of the drivers of our inaugural Beef Industry Exchange webinar, June 24 at 9 a.m. CDT. The free webinar will be hosted by Senior Livestock Editor Jennifer Carrico and will cover a range of timely issues facing U.S. cattle producers.

Weather dictates a lot in cattle production, from forage and hay production to animal weight gains to calving conditions. A key problem in expanding the U.S. cattle herd has been dry pasture conditions in a lot of the South and Intermountain West. DTN Ag Meteorologist John Baranick will break down variability and volatile storm patterns to share how an active summer season could save or doom U.S. pastures. You'll also hear the latest thoughts on the high-volatility cattle market from DTN Livestock Analyst ShayLe Stewart. Among other market happenings, Stewart will reflect on Superior Livestock Auction's Corn Belt Classic, June 16-17, which is the market's first real test of the summer for feeder cattle sales.

We'll also be discussing how to rebuild the cow herd following extreme challenges with University of Nebraska Lincoln's Beef Systems Extension Educator Aaron Berger.

There will be ample time for questions throughout the webinar sessions, and the event will be recorded so that registered attendees can review the discussions or share them with others that couldn't view the live event.

Register early so you don't forget and get on the list for email reminders of the event.

See you on the 24th!
