Spot Ethanol Prices Continue Higher on Fundamentals

Spot ethanol prices traded higher in Chicago early session Thursday, buoyed by bullish supply and demand fundamentals plus a rally for both Chicago Board of Trade corn futures and New York Mercantile Exchange RBOB futures. Volume is seen picking up this afternoon.

Prompt ethanol at the Kinder Morgan-operated Argo terminal in the Chicago market traded at $1.53 and $1.535 per gallon, up 1.0 cent, while September delivery traded at $1.545 per gallon. Early August delivered ethanol by barge at the New York Harbor was pegged at $1.625 per gallon, up 2.5 cents. Ethanol with 79.9 carbon intensity for this week shipment to northern California traded at $1.76 per gallon for a gain of 4.0 cents.
