Spot Ethanol Prices Weaken Amid Sluggish Demand

Spot ethanol prices tracked lower with corn and gasoline futures Wednesday, as worries about sluggish demand overshadowed the Energy Information Administration's data showing domestic production tumbled to a five-week low last week.

EIA data for the week-ended April 3 showed a 64,000 bbl drawdown in ethanol stocks to 20.483 million bbl while production fell 16,000 bpd to 936,000 bpd. Argo prompt transfer ethanol valued 2.0 cents lower at $1.57 per gallon. New York Harbor April delivered ethanol barge was pegged at $1.68 per gallon for a 1.0-cent loss. Northern California ethanol was talked at a $1.72 to $1.75 per gallon bid/ask spread, down 2.0 cents.
