USDA Hub City Livestock Wtd Averages 05/28 15:05 AMS_2020 MARS Hub City Livestock Auction - Aberdeen, SD Hub City Livestock Auction-Aberdeen,SD Livestock Weighted Average Report for 05/28/2025 - Final Auction This Week Last Reported Last Year ------------------------------------------------------------ Total Receipts: ------------------------------------------------------------ FEEDER CATTLE 2600 2168 2175 Compared to last week: best test on steers 850 to 899 lbs mostly steady and 950 to 999 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Heifers not well compared as many heifers last week were replacements sold by the head. Good to very good demand for finishing type cattle today depending on flesh condition, very good demand for lighter, backgrounding and grass type cattle, especially those selling in load lots. Many loads to choose from, sometimes a couple loads to a cut. Flesh varied with some cattle carrying quite a bit of flesh and also some fill seen at times. A little mud on the cattle with the recent rains and muddy lot conditions. Quality varied, from plain to attractive. An active market seen for this offering. TREND: The trend for July corn is down.

NONCOMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Noncommercial traders held a net-short futures position of 20,333 contracts as of May 27, an increase of 8,781 contracts as traders continued to keep selling pressure on corn prices during the most recent CFTC reporting period.

COMMERCIAL OUTLOOK: Commercial corn traders held a net-long position of 52,564 contracts as of May 27, an increase of 13,550 contracts week over week. The July 2025 contract is priced 20 1/2 cents higher than the September 2025 contract, a spread that weakened slightly over the past week. DTN's National Cash Index indicated that corn basis firmed over the most recent week to 24 cents under the July board, an improvement of 1 cent on the...

It was a mixed day for the livestock complex as traders simply weren't willing to advance the cattle contracts ahead of the weekend, but the lean hog complex was finally able to close above its nearby resistance because of the market's added support.
