Mules to Marvels January 2024

Benton Witt, Bear Creek Farms, Leonard, Texas, stands with a familiar "senior" spreader. Compare that to the MS400 from Meyer Manufacturing Corp. (Steve Thompson)

The many uses for manure have driven manure-handling technology to increasingly sophisticated levels of design and technology. Benton Witt (right), Bear Creek Farms, Leonard, Texas, stands with a familiar "senior" spreader. Compare that to the MS400 (tandem axle, vertical beaters) from Meyer Manufacturing Corp. The box features a 1/2-inch-thick high-density solid poly floor and 3/4-inch-thick solid poly sides. The Twin Twister Vertical Beater has a spread pattern of 30 to 40 feet in width. MS400 has a capacity of 486 bushels (heaped) and can be ordered with an optional scale. (Bonus points: Manufacturer of the Texas spreader and year -- or decade?)
